The EU Council is pushing for encryption backdoors to messenger apps such as WhatsApp and Signal to fight terrorism (German article): https://fm4.orf.at/stories/3008930/

Despite the fact that errors of investigation in Austrian authorities had made the attack possible in the first place and not a lack of digital surveillance powers. Politicians must start to understand that more surveillance will not lead to more security. That's why we fight any attempt for an encryption backdoor: https://tutanota.com/blog/posts/why-a-backdoor-is-a-security-risk/

A big inspiration for me is Soft City by Hariton Pushwagner. It uses repetition and scale to almost disturbing degrees, and tells an elaborate story about no one in particular without using any words at all.

Began the homeschooling journey this term (after 'remote learning' for almost half of this year already due to on-again off-again lockdown measures) with 2 primary school boys. So far so awesome.. except having to create a temporary fakebook account (YUCK) to find other homeschoolers, there are many active groups there which have been helpful.
Would be great to find other homeschoolers in the fediverse, I've tried searching the tag more than once over the last few months but not much found.

UK citizens are being refused entry to businesses unless they download contact tracing app

The supposedly optional app is being forced on citizens less than a week after launch.

"We are questioning the legitimacy of the current advisory experts, who meet behind closed doors."

"An untested vaccine, which is implemented by emergency procedure and for which the manufacturers have already obtained legal immunity from possible harm, raises serious questions... We do not wish to use our patients as guinea pigs.

On a global scale, 700 000 cases of damage or death are expected as a result of the vaccine.

If 95% of people experience Covid-19 virtually symptom-free, the risk of exposure to an untested vaccine is irresponsible."

It would be great if #pixelfed had a public timeline that at least included posts from other instances so we would not have to all congregate on the one instance to find any interraction/friends.
I believe it is planned to develop many more discovery features. I think it is just taking time. In general, the best place to see what issues/features have been requested and to request more is their github repository: https://github.com/pixelfed
If you want to support monetarily, there is a section at the bottom of their website with some options (https://pixelfed.org/). I believe the best choice would be to support @dansup on Patreon or the PixelFed project on OpenCollective.
Thank you for the tips, I've had a quick look around at the github of pixelfed... do I need an account there to make a suggestion?
I've found dansup on patreon, just got to work out which creators I am donating to before deciding on an amount. Do you have costs associated with running this instance / do you have a patreon?
Running this instance has been pretty inexpensive so far, no worries 😀
I think you do need to make a github account to open issue tickets. Alternatively, you can just post recommendations on the Fediverse, I find people often respond that way too. But github would be the more official tracking of open and closed issue requests.

Just published a list of all the best marketing practices we say "no" to when growing our startup.

Turns out you can grow your project without funding Google and Facebook, and their stranglehold on the web

"This is my latest effort to show you how incredibly diverse the surface of the moon is. It was done by using a telescope at 2000mm and capturing around 10,000 individual photos. I captured 2 panels with 5,000 photos each (2000 with an IR filter for luminance, and then 1000 each RGB) and used lucky imaging to select where the atmosphere disturbed the image the least and combine them, stitching together a mosaic of all the images. This allowed me to get crazy details and contrast on a relatively noise-free image. The color depth is probably the best I've ever done, as you can actually see color variations on mile-wide features. These colors represent the varying mineral composition on the surface."
